This campaign, Microplastic pollution in our oceans, aims at putting in the spotlight the issue of plastic entering our oceans.
Another focus will be to look at what it means for us but above all for the marine wildlife and ecosystem.
This campaign will bring you the facts about microplastic pollution.
It will also suggest you concrete and easy adjustments in your lifestyle so you can be part of the much needed collective effort to tackle this .
You will not be charged for the purchase of raffle tickets until the campaign ends
Provided that this campaign hits its target, a meeting with one representative of the organisation or charity will happen to handover the amount raised or a cheque will be sent. The recipient will then acknowledge reception via their favourite social media channel.

The facts
Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. There may now be around 5.25 trillion macro and microplastic pieces floating in the open ocean. Weighing up to 269,000 tonnes.
Surfers Against sewageCheap and disposable, plastic has been a symbol of our throwaway culture. Much of it flows into the oceans, turning them into a plastic soup. A truckload of plastic enters the ocean every single minute
GreenpeaceA billion toothbrushes will be thrown away in the U.S. alone this year, most of them plastic. The majority will end up in landfills or in our oceans and destroy marine wildlife.
The Environmental Medium Toothbrush
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is the largest accumulation of ocean plastic in the world and is located between Hawaii and California. The mass of the plastic in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) was estimated to be approximately 80,000 tonnes. This weight is also equivalent to that of 500 Jumbo Jets.

When plastic breaks down it doesn’t disappear, it gets smaller creating tiny particles called microplastics. Even clothes made from artificial materials shed microplastic fibres when they’re washed. Microbeads, another type of microplastic, are sometimes added to products such as cosmetics and toothpaste
GreenpeacePlastics consistently make up 60 to 90% of all marine debris studied. Over 150 plastic bottles litter each mile of UK beaches. Approx 5,000 items of marine plastic pollution have been found per mile of beach in the UK.

The Environmental Medium Toothbrush
Scientists discover large amounts of tiny plastic particles falling out of the air in a remote mountain location. Wednesday, 17 April 2019Scientists recorded a daily rate of 365 microplastic particles per square metre falling from the sky in the Pyrenees Mountains in southern France.
